Anti-Bullying Campaign

University Project | Work: Research, Graphic Design, Copywriting
Overview
This project aimed to create an impactful infographic that conveys information through a compelling narrative and visual storytelling. The primary focus was on addressing the issue of bullying, and the chosen medium for this endeavor was a series of posters designed as a sensitization campaign. The goal was to raise awareness and engage viewers in understanding the serious impact of bullying.
Challenge
The challenge in this project was to transform initially corporate-looking, emotionless presentations into visually engaging and emotionally resonant posters. Finding the right balance between visual elements, color palette, and copywriting tone while maintaining factual accuracy posed a significant challenge. The need to tell a compelling story through collected data required iterative exploration and thoughtful decision-making.
Solution
The solution involved an iterative process of experimentation with visual design elements, including color schemes and typography. The final design incorporated a minimal color scheme with black backgrounds, off-white main copy, and pink accents, inspired by Pink Shirt Day. The choice of a bold sans-serif font prioritized legibility and simplicity. The copywriting underwent numerous revisions to maintain factual accuracy while ensuring an attention-grabbing and engaging presentation. The inclusion of a specific website, "stopbullying.gov," served the purpose within the class context, while the larger-scale vision involves a campaign-specific website for wider accessibility and information dissemination. The choice of bus shelter posters followed OutFrontMedia Canada's guidelines for practical feasibility and wider reach. The ultimate solution aimed at creating a sensitization campaign that reaches diverse audiences concerned about bullying, utilizing both visual and factual elements to convey a powerful message.
